A member asked:

A ct scan shows a spot on the liver. what could be the results? i was having stomach and lower abdominal pain, low blood pressure, and was diagnosed with ibs, the ct scan showed i have a spot on my liver. what would cause that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unrelated to IBS: The ct report should include a differential diagnosis. This is a "laundry list" of what the radiologist thinks the spot may be & what tests are necessary to get a definitive answer. "spots" can be benign (cyst, hemangioma) or malignant. A repeat ct in 6 months, an MRI of the liver, or even a biopsy may be suggested. Please clarify with the doctor that ordered the ct or ask for a copy of the report.
