A member asked:

Is it safe to take the prescribed medicine for chlamydia if you now know that you are pregnant? n/a

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It : It depends on which medication you were prescribed for your chlamydia. Doxycycline, ofloxacin, and Levofloxacin are not safe in pregnancy, but Azithromycin is perfectly safe to take while pregnant. If you were given azithromycin, take it, if not, call your doctor for a new prescription. Once treated, it is also very important that you have your doctor retest you in 3 weeks to make sure you are cured because untreated chlamydia can cause serious complications for your pregnancy. Good luck!
