Small : Small or large, you should never have a plastic object left in your rectum. You need an emergency evaluation.

You : You describe a small plastic device, but I do not know what size that would be or how it came to be there. Plastic would not be visible on an x-ray. You need to have an examination very quickly to be sure that you do not have an intestinal blockage or obstruction. Retained objects could also possibly perforate the intestine, or cause intestinal irritation or injury especially if there could be sharp edges on the item. If it is truly small, then it would pass on its own without much consequences.
