Should not: If properly used and cared for , should not cause infection. Sexual behavior on the other hand could put you at risk for infections.

Cervical cap: The cervical cap is not as reliable for pregnancy protection, but will not "cause" infections. Pelvic infections are usually associated with sexual activity, or are fungal (yeast) in nature.
