Less than 1%: About 3% of americans, for example, have an autoimmune disease. Common ones include thyroid problems, type 1 (juvenile) diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and vitiligo. Most affect 1% of people or less. Autoimmune diseases are 3x more common in women and in people with a family history.

Autoimmune disease: It really depends on the autoimmune disease. Celiac is a much more common autoimmune disease, than say, lupus or psoriasis.
