Most : Most women who have had a miscarriage can later have a successful pregnancy. Often doctors want the patient to wait 2-3 months after a miscarriage before attempting pregnancy again so be sure to check with your physician.

Miscarriages : Miscarriages usually do not cause infertility. Most women will ovulate about 2-4 weeks after a miscarriage, so if you do not want to be pregnant right away, then use a contraceptive. We also often recommend that you wait 1-2 cycles before conceiving again because there is a slight increased risk of another miscarriage if you conceive too soon. If you had a significant complications and a traumatic D&C or if you had to have a D&C for retained products of conception, then there is some increased risk of scar tissue in the uterine cavity. The scar tissue is still not common but be aware. Intrauterine scar tissue (asherman's syndrome) is difficult to correct in many cases and can be a serious problem for those of us who help women and couples conceive. Best wishes and always consult your physician for detailed counseling about your personal situation.
