This : This depends on where exactly the issue happened. It sounds like you formed an abscess or collection of pus (dead tissue). Why this happened could be from many reasons.....Dead tissue, a foreign body, or past infection.

Wash : Wash it out, seek medical treatment and make sure you do not need antibiotics. If it was an infection and re-seals to quickly you may not be safe yet. An infection, foreign body, cyst, inclusion cyst, ganglion, mucous cyst, access, all could be implicated. Keep you fringier out of your mouth, keep it clean, and see a doctor.
