will i still be able to go jogging after my pneumonectomy?

Maybe: The answer really depends on whether you were able to jog before a pneumonectomy (removal of an entire lung). Certain pre-operative evaluations are used to determine if someone is a candidate for pneumonectomy or other lung surgery. Those tests include spirometry, gas exchange tests and cardiovascular tests. Using those evaluations, surgeons are able to predict the function of a patient after a pneumonectomy or other type of lung function. Surgeons try to avoid pneumonectomy if at all possible, and will not perform a pneumonectomy or other types of lung surgery if the patient will be at risk of not having a good quality of life after surgery. There are types of surgeries, called sleeve procedures, that allow surgeons to remove cancer, and at the same time preserve lung tissue. These sleeve procedures are preferable to pneumonectomy.

Possibly: Depends on your level of lung function prior to surgery. If your remaining lung works well, you may have few, if any, limitations.

Probably not: As women age, it is normal for the breasts to become more flabby and droop. The jogging bra won't prevent this.

I have a question about my heart. When jogging, should I have the feeling that my heart is working hard?

Likely exertion.: Jogging is a considerable amount of exercise. It might put strain on muscles, your heart, and your lungs. Your windpipe may hurt because your body is trying to get more oxygen into it than when you are resting, even when done jogging. This is to be expected, but if you get difficulty breathing while jogging, see your doctor to test your heart as this may be a sign of heart disease.

Great to jog.: Jogging is a very healthy way to get your exercise. Under 18 should be working on increased exercise so we can try to reverse the epidemic of diabetes and obesity that is sweeping through our young children. Encourage jogging on a regular basis.

No it is not bad for young people to jog. I think its great to start when you are young Don't do too much weights or mileage when you are young and still growing. Many marathons limit runners to at least 16 or 18 yrs of age
