A member asked:

Is it possible for a 16-year-old to have lung cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I have seen one case: In 35 years of practice focused on lung cancer, so it is very rare. We call cancers from their source of origin because it helps us decide how to manage the problem and what the outlook is. A "lung cancer" in an adolescent would be so outside the norm, we would not have those answers. One must be sure it is not lymphoma, germ cell tumor, or metastasis from another place.
