Hello. : Hello. There is not a lot of information here. If you have a sore throat, it is hard to swallow, and you feel generally ill, there is a possibility of streph throat. This is more likely if there are swollen lymph nodes or if the tonsils are swollen and or/ red. That is good that it doesn't hurt to swallow. You did not mention a fever, so I am going to assume that you are not feeling hot or feverish (or that you don't have an elevated temperature). There are a lot of viruses going around at this time of year. If you mainly have a sore throat and a cough, you could consider doing a number of things to increase your comfort level. 1. Rest. 2. Gargle with warm salt water or consider sucking of lozenges or cough drops that have bezocaine 3. Tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort. 4 hydration with at least 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water per day. Try to avoid carbonated beverages, acidic juices or coffee. Warm herbal teas might help to loose mucous and humidify you. If you develop trouble breathing, high fever (104 or more) with lethargy or confusion, or difficulty swallowing those would be reasons to get urgent assistance. I recommend that you try these home remedies unless you develop a complication.
