You : You are right, it could be a torn calf muscle, or it could be that you tore a vein from the trauma and have a large hematoma. However, a blood clot is a possibility as well. Any calf pain and swelling should indicate a vascular study (ultrasound) of your leg to be sure that you don't have a blood clot, which can be fatal. I would advise that you see a physician and have this tested immediately. If you have pain, increased swelling, any shortness of breath or chest pain then you would have to be seen as an emergency.

The : The bruise is a sign of internal bleed that has occurred so it could be a localized blood collection or muscle tear and less likely to be a deep vein thrombosis(clot). If you move ankle up and down and that causes more pain then it is more likely to be muscle tear. If the localized swelling gets harder with time then it is more likely to be a localized blood collection. This blood collection may slowly resorb or may turn into a collection of fluid (seroma) that may need to be drained if it persists. A torn muscle will also cause more pain if you try to walk of the heels because you will be streching the torn muscle.
