Yes : Yes it can turn to a positive later, that is why there are very specific directions on when it has to be read. I can not tell you if you are pregnant or not. If you take a pregacy test before the HCG level is high enough it could still show as negative. However, if the directions said to read the test within 2 to 3 minutes and that is when you saw the negative, that is most likely the correct reading. Sometimes, if you wait a while, there can be a gray line where the urine evaporated which can be mistaken for a positive result.

Agree with Dr. F: You need to follow the instructions for the pregnancy test carefully, including the time window during which the result should be read. Use first morning urine.
