What can i do to reduce the pain of a popped boil? i have a boil. i went to the doctor but thay only gave me some medication, (cephalexin). it did not help, it only got bigger and popped today. i have a lot of pain and don`t know what is safe to apply to

Sometimes, : Sometimes, a boil can take a few days to start to improve. Perhaps a kenalog (triamcinolone) injection into the area might help. Other options might include warm compresses followed by ice packs. Sometimes, incision and drainage is necessary. Read more about boils at the link below. I hope that helps!

See below: Apply hot salt water soaks several times a day. Apply absorptive gauze dressings between soaks. Allow it to drain on its own and do not squeeze it. Keep taking your prescribed cephalexin. The boil getting larger and then starting to drain could indicate improvement due to the antibiotic treatment. If it does not steadily improve from this point get it reevaluated by your md.
