Why hasn't the fda approved lipodissolve? i am interested in having a procedure done with lipodissolve but have seen that it is not approved by the fda. is there a reason that the fda has not approved it, or is it likely to be approved soon?

Lipodissolve : Lipodissolve is a form of mesotherapy which has been touted as a less invasive alternative to liposuction. A number of therapies utilizing a similar approach include lipodissolve, lipolight, lipolyse, lipotherapy, and involve a series of medicated injections (the ingredients used in vary depending on the doctor and the preparation), but which typically includes phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate, multivitamins, Alpha lipid acid, enzymes and plant extracts. Phosphatidylcholine is a soybean extract, and deoxycholate is a bile derivative. These drugs are not approved for injection and not for this purpose. The safety and efficacy of these mesotherapies have not been proven, this is required before the fda approves the use of compounds for injection and the safety of the procedure itself. The fda has received reports of adverse effects in persons who have had the procedure using these drugs, including permanent scarring, skin deformation, and deep painful knots under the skin in areas where these products have been injected. On april 7, 2010, the us food and drug administration issued warning letters to six U.S. Based medical spas and a company in brazil for making false or misleading statements on their web sites about drugs they claim will eliminate fat. These procedures are unlikely to be approved until vigorous clinical trials have been conducted.

Lipodissovle In Test: Lipodissovle is still in clinical trials and when they are done it will be submitted to the fda. It takes time and the patients need to be followed to make sure there are no long term problems or changes. Or what happens if there is subsequent weight gain, or loss.
