The : The source of vaginal bleeding after sex is most commonly from the cervix - the part of the uterus that hangs into your vagina. It is most likely caused by cervical irritation from the friction of sex. As long as you are premenopausal, the bleeding is infrequent, and you have normal, regular pap smears, then you don't have to see your doctor for it. If you are postmenopausal, have bleeding that is heavy or every time you have sex, or if you have had abnormal paps smears in the past, you should see your doctor to rule out more serious causes such as cervical cancer. Good luck!

Sounds serious: Depending on your age, your state of health, when you had your last pap smear, pelvic exam and perhaps other issues and history, you must get checked out. Post coital bleeding is something that could be caused by a very serious condtion surch as cancer of the cerviix or the uterus. It may not evern be painful. Please get seen by your gyn and get cleared, treated or reassured.

Not bleeding is fine: The bleeding with first sex idea is overdone. Bleeding means there were little tears. If a woman has a healthy vulva, vagina, and hymen; if she is very stretchy; if she is happy and relaxed, with lots of natural lubrication; if a guy enters at a good angle, at the right spot; if he moves gently with small motions until all is well-lubricated and stretched out; there may not be tearing or bleeding.

Rupturing hymen: There is a thin fold of skin that covers the opening to the cervix. When a penis first inserted into the vagina it may cause trauma and rupture of this tissue. This is normal and can also happen while horseback riding or using tampons.

Get checked: It could be due to an infection, problems with your cervix, or something more serious. Go to a doctor so they can do an exam to find out why.
