Yes: Hypoplastic left ventricle cannot be fully repaired but a nearly normal flow of blood can be created through a series of surgeries. The surgeries do have risk, but many children born with this defect have now become adults.

Hlhs: Hlhs can only be survived with complex medical management. Initially the vessel connecting the aorta and the pumonary artery called ductus arteriosus needs to be kept open by infusing a drug called prostaglandin. Then two options exist. Transplantation or a series of 3 surgeries. Both procedures are associated with a decreased life expectancy but survival into adulthood is possible.
