The : The only way to know how much damage was caused by the toe nail is to have an examination under a microscope at your eye doctor's office. While some injuries may be very minor and only involve the quick to heal outer covering of the eye (the conjunctiva), others may damage the very sensitive focusing surface of the eye (the cornea) and can rarely lead to serious or permanent damage. With toe nail injuries we worry about infections from the many different types of bacteria that often reside on the feet and toes.

If : If she has pain, redness, tearing, or any vision changes, you should take her to see an ophthalmologist for evaluation. Most minor cuts if they are just on the surface of the eye will heal within about a day.

Cornea : Cornea is the most sensitive part of your body. It is the clear anterior portion of your eye, just like the glass on your watch. If you should have a cut on the cornea, it will cause severe pain. Fortunately, they often heal quickly (4~48hrs). In all cases where a cut on the cornea or any other part of the globe (eye ball) is concerned, you should seek an ophthalmologist for a full evaluation. Antibiotic should be applied as a prophylaxis against infection.
