A member asked:

If you reduce a child's obesity, will their type 2 diabetes get better?

Depends: I use the child lable up to the teens and type 2 is esentually unknown in children. For the early type 2 in teens & adults, weight loss helps & may minimize or eliminate meds.Type 1 dm can effect children, teens & adults and obesiy always makes management more difficult. However, weight loss will not repair the loss of Insulin production that makes type 1 different from type 2.

Absolutely : Worked for adults for decades and will do the same for teens. On some instances, if diabetes was discovered late in the child, weight loss may not be sufficient so time is of the essence if impaired glucose is captured.
