Is it safe to take nevirapine during pregnant?

No: Yes and no. Nevirapine is used in developing nations as a anti-hiv medication for short term use in preventing vertical transmission of HIV (mother to baby). It is not a recommended drug for ongoing use in pregnancy. First line anti-hiv drugs in pregnancy are Lamivudine, Zidovudine (azt) and lopinavir (kaletra) (all in combination).

Yes: If you are already on Nevirapine from before pregnancy, it is safe to take during pregnancy - fda class b. Multiple studies have shown that pregnancy does not increase risk for Nevirapine side effects.
