Your : Your headaches sound like classical migraine with aura (your visual loss). You should see a neurologist about possibly using a triptan like Imitrex or Relpax (eletriptan) when you get the headaches or a prophylactic medication if the headaches are frequent. If the headaches have become nonstop you may need an injectable medication to break the cycle. I would advise you to go to an urgent care clinic rather than the er where you'll have to wait while people who have life threatening problems are being treated. If you have been having these headaches for three years without progressive neurological symptoms, it is unlikely you have a brain tumor or some other more serious problem. Migraine can be brought under control.

Get checked: If your headaches do not respond to pain medicines like tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin, then it would be good to get checked out by a doctor. You may also want to maintain a headache diary when you have a headache. In this you should write down anything you ate in the hours before the headache started, or how much sleep you got the night before or anything else that stands out and look for patterns.
