If : If a couple in monogamous and both have hpv they limey both carry the same strains of the virus and unprotected intercourse will not make either of their infections worse. However if the partners are not monogamous, there is a chance that they may infect one another with a different strain of the virus. Yes: If your partner does not yet have the HPV infection, it may be transmitted to his/her genitals. If that occurs, growths may appear and need to be treated before continuing to engage in further sexual contact. If one or both of you have visible growths they need treatment to prevent further "aggravation" and spread.
