While high blood pressure, elevated 'bad' cholesterol (ldl) and decreased 'good' cholesterol' increase the risk of cad, there are several other risk factors including male sex, advancing age, premature family history of cad, and smoking history to name a few. In addition, please note that there are many other causes of heart disease above and beyond cad. If you have any symptoms or risk factors, you should seek care from your physician and/or other health care provider for there are many presentations for heart disease. The good news is that there are plenty of effective preventive measures and treatments now.
