5 : 5 months old is a little old to still be having problems with the belly-button. Most kids lose their umbilical cords a few weeks after they are born and the belly button heals within a few days after that. It could be an infection, injury, granuloma or something she was born with, but if her belly button is draining or bleeding, she should be seen by her doctor.

Hernia of umbilicus: you ma have detected a small hernia of the umbilicus with irritation. As long as there is no belly button redness, discharge this small hole will close in time. See MD if bleeding is successive and ongoing.
