As : As doctors, anytime a fertile, sexually active woman has an abnormally light or missed period, the first thing we do is rule out pregnancy. You can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. It is always better to be safe than sorry and to know sooner rather than later. Good luck!

Possibly: If a female has been sexually active and the period is unusually light, the bleeding might not be your actual period. A home pregnancy test is usually able to rule in or rule out pregnancy.

Pregnancy test: Agree with Dr. M and F. If you had sex since your last period, do a home pregnancy test. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine
