Herpes : Herpes can present in many areas of the body, including the throat. However, you will need a doctor to diagnose this. You could easily have a viral pharyngitis or other type of infection causing your symptoms. If you want to know for sure if you contratced the herpes virus from your partner, your doctor can do a blood test to check for exposure to herpes type 1 and 2. Even if one of these tests come back positive it does not mean you will ever get a herpes lesion, many people are carries of the virus but never have an outbreak. In the meantime i would suggest you avoid sharing drinks with your kids, or anyone else for that matter. Although the risk is low to pass herpes this way, it is still present. Please see your doctor right away for diagnotic purposes. Your doctor will be able to guide you through whatever the tests reveal. Good luck.
