Ovulation allows egg: to release - so female must be capable of ovulation. Chances to become pregnant are best around time of ovulation. However, because of irregularity - it is not always possible to know when ovulation will occur (it is usually 14 days before an anticipated period). Also a female with a long period and a short cycle might become pregnant at end of period. Use protection to avoid pregnancy.
