Safety First: 1st rule is for the toys and/or equipment to be safe. 2nd is that the activities available be age appropriate. 3rd is that they should stimulate the senses, such as muscle movement, sight and sound.

No perfect answer: Play equipment depends on the age of your children and your involvement. No equipment is absolutely always risk free. Some equipment, such as trampolines, have higher risk if not properly supervised. Generally, the standard equipment, if well designed and properly assembled, is safe and helps children develop useful talents. They are all superior to video games and tv!
