should a young girl just starting her period wear a tampon? if not, why?

Pad - simpler: I don't believe there is a right or wrong answer to this. My own thought is that dealing with all the body changes that go with puberty & dealing with the first menstrual period is confusing enough without having to learn to insert a tampon. I think a pad is simpler to start out with.
