2-5 mL: Semen volume should be 2-5 ml (1/2-1 teaspoon), sperm counts should be at least 20 million per milliliter with 50% of the sperm swimming. Wide variation exists but 20 million is considered the minimum to father a child through intercourse.

Viable sperm count: A semen analysis showing normal motile sperm in a count in excess of 20 million is sufficient in most cases to achieve pregnancy. If your count is less than this, fertility can be delayed . If lower, get a referral to see a urologist for an exam and potential treatment.
