8c of any liquids: The typical recommended amount of fluid to take in daily is around 8 cups. That includes water, milk, juice, other beverages & liquid from foods like fruit. Thirst indicates too little. The ideal varies from day to day depending on heat, activity, etc. However, most women should try to drink a cup at and between each meal/snack and at bedtime to keep the fluid level steady, especially if pregnant.

8c per day: If a woman has vomiting or diarrhea, she would need to get more fluid, sometimes by intravenous (IV) solution. If she is in extreme heat or is sweating more than usual, she might need more than 8c per day. If pregnant and uncertain about how much fluid to drink or take in the form of foods, she should never hesitate to speak with a nutritionist and/or physician due to risks of dehydration.

At least 8 glasses: Your water intake needs depend on activity, diet, temperature and your metabolism. Make sure you're drinking enough so that your urine is fairly clear. Any time you are not feeling that well, the first thing to do is drink more water.

Keep your pee clear: If your urine is clear to light yellow then you are drinking enough water. This is a quick and easy way to make sure you are hydrated. Vitamins will make your urine a little more yellow than usual.

Quench thirst: Drink enough water to quench your thirst. We ignore our body's signals to us telling us when to eat and drink. And many people confuse thirst for hunger.

1/2 gallon +/-: Rule of thumb: take your weight in pounds and divide by two. That's how many ounces you should take in if you are moderately active. Obviously more if it's hot or you are very active.

64 oz of H20 or more: On a normal day, without excessive activity or heat, you should drink eight 8oz glasses of water a day (or about 64oz). If you're working out and sweating or it is hot enough to cause you to sweat you should increase your water consumption accordingly. In addition, if you drink significant amounts of caffeine you should increase water intake secondary to caffeine's diuretic effect.
