A 23-year-old member asked:
is it possible for an enlarged prostate to actually feel good?

Dr. Moez Khorsandi answered

Possibly: Having an enlarged prostate may cause unwanted urinary symptoms but should not make it feel "good" although it may. The symptoms that patients develop are usually bothersome and not one of feeling good.

Could I use a normal household item, or something from the hardware store, to shrink my enlarged prostate?

Never: There are no household items you can use to "shrink" the prostate gland. In fact, this would be very dangerous and can cause permanent damage. It is only treated with prescribed medications or surgery depending on the symptoms. See a urologist if you have difficulty with urination.

Not really: There are some natural remedies for the prostate, but most prevent enlargement and in the studies done in the german literature have not been shown to actually shrink it.
