Does promiscuity increase my chances of getting prostatitis?

Yes: Promiscuity increases your chances of getting an std or even a urinary tract infection. These infections may then affect the prostate with clinical symptoms or with very few symptoms. If left untreated or if there is a delay in treatment, prostatitis may develop which may then turn into a chronic condition over time.

Rare, if ever: Sexual frequency or increased number of partners do not cause prostatitis. In fact, frequent sexual release probably is healthy for the prostate. Unprotected sex with many partners raises risks STD, but STDs rarely cause prostatitis. Gonorrhea can do it, but probably only if untreated for prolonged periods. Chlamydia has been suspected as a cause, but never proved by research studies.
