For regular x-rays, its always a good idea to remove any jewelry that might be in the imaging field, including belly-button rings and other piercings. For MRI studies of the neck and head, you should also remove your facial make-up. Believe it or not, additives in the makeup (especially eye shadow) causes distortions in the images. Also, for mammography, you should not wear any deodorant or antiperspirant. These sustances can mimic tiny calcifications in the breast that are an indicator of malignancy.

Doesn't matter: The technician will let you know if you should disrobe or not and if any jewelry should be removed. They will give you a gown and shielding if necessary. Don't worry - just show up and the staff will walk you through it. It's a pretty easy test.
