A member asked:

When breastfeeding, will the baby not feeding off one breast cause problems? 7 weeks old.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Decrease supply: Breast milk production is dependent upon stimulation (suckling) from the breast. The side baby nurses from will produce lots of milk and the unused side will produce little or none. Not harmful to baby, but could be very uncomfortable-lopsided!- to mom. If you're having problems getting him to feed on one side-see pediatrician or lactation specialist. They can help this common problem.
