A member asked:

If someone is being taken to a palliative care team, does that mean you're dying?

No!: Ideally, palliative care simply means care that maintains the psychological, emotional and spiritual health of the patient receiving treatment, regardless of their prognosis. This approach is often difficult in our health care system, where funding for this type of care in other than end of life situations is often lacking, but it's not impossible; consider yourself one of the lucky ones!

Not necessary: Everybody is dying sooner or later. Palliative care is provided for somebody who has a life-threatening disease that may cause death but it is not clear when.
