To prevent overdosin: You need to be able to calculate amounts of medication used for children and adults, based on their wweight in kilograms. Also, many medications are given in various % concentrations and you need to calculate how much medicine you can inject or give orally before reaching toxic doses.

Read below: Just as any other physician. We write prescriptions and have to be able to calculate dosing. A lot of measurements are made with ulcers, etc. That require math skills along with other formula calculations as any other physician. Don't forget, we need to be able to count to 10 for the number of toes.
