A member asked:

Hymenectomy. what is it and what are the benefits?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No benefit unless..: The hymen is a rather thin membrane in the vaginal canal and often breaks spontaneously with menstrual flow, intercourse, or insertion of tampon/speculum etc...There are cases of imperforated hypmen in some women, thus not allowing the menstrual flow to occur, thus a simple cut/hymenectomy as seen in picture here will do the job...Often with very minimal discomfort. Consult doc. Good luck.
