A member asked:

Is it true that men handle hip reconstruction much better than women?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Women tend to put hip replacement off longer than men, so typically they have waited longer, have been less active, and their arthritis is more advanced, so surgery can be harder for them. The time to have this procedure done is when you are no longer able to carry out activities of daily living because of hip pain. That's true for men and women.
