A member asked:

Is it easy to tear an acl if i long board all the time?

No: The ACL torn is from an injury not overuse. Injuries occur with falls and you are more likley to fall when tired or distracted, when using a new board, going out in rough. If you are surfing or participating in any sporting endeavor, there is always the risk of knee injury and that includes ACL tear, but you can minimize the risks by being alert, careful, and staying healthy.

No: While anatomic factors may play a role in increasing your risk of acl injury, it usually requires twisting forces higher than what you would experience on a long board. More likely with a short board.

No: Acl injuries among surfers is not that common because the knee can rotate and pivot along with the surfboard rather than be fixed on a planted surface. In surfing the knee is probably most at risk when spin and land impacting the wave. However it is rare.
