Avoid pressure: Pressure sores occur because prolonged weight on a body part with a bony protuberance cuts off blood supply & leads to tissue death. Avoid this by alternating positions frequently when lying in bed or sitting. Certain cushions/mattresses may help too.

Bedsores: Bedsores are due to pressure over bony prominences. The best way to prevent bedsores, once they occur, is to keep pressure of these areas. That means that you need to constantly move the person into different positions to relieve the pressure. Seeking professional help like with a wound center is a great option since depending on the depth, stage and location of the uler, your options will differ.
