Many things: Many causes. Most common are hemorrhoids, but also colon polyps. You should talk with your doctor to determine if further tests are needed.

Lots of things: Many conditions can cause rectal bleeding. Often is caused by hemorrhoids but polyps and cancer can do so too. At 57, you should have already had at least one screening colonoscopy. Either way, let your doc know. Regards.
