What does residual defect mean in relation to cva?

Residual malfunction: This usually refers to a small degree of malfunction that remains after what seems to be full recovery from a cva. So if the cva caused arm weakness, the arm remains slightly weaker than its baseline, after the expected time to recovery has lapsed.

Abnormal findings: If a stroke causes weakness and there is not complete resolution, and reversal, there is a "residual defect".
