A member asked:

8 day period with black blood, 2 days later red blood heavy with black clots sized like a tinned round cut carrot, is this normal?

Doesn't sound normal: If you re no longer bleeding/discharging, wait another month and see if this happens again. Call your gyn for eval if it does or if you are still bleeding even now. There could be a blockage of your menstrual flow or infection.

Well: It doesn't sound normal for you. The variations on the blood itself, dark, light, etc are hard to make anything from. We ask about volume, problems relating to anemia and timing; its a remote chance but if u were late could be miscarriage. Not unusual to have heavy and irregular periods thus the pill so commonly used. I wouldn't make too much of the particulars since its done; good luck.
