Maybe: If the constipation is severe(no movement in 5 days or more, i would go on a liquid diet, consuming 80 to 100 ounces of non caffeinated, non alcoholic fluid daily and taking a gentle laxative such as milk of magnesia 1-2 times per day, or MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) 1-2 times per day until you are completely emptied. Then for maintenance i would go back on a high fiber diet, and continue the fluids indefinitiely.

High fiber diet: Chronic constipation has many causes: hormonal, previous surgery, diet, neural input... Exercise and diet may militate against constipation. Avoid meat altogether, opt for a mediterranean diet to enhance and preserve one's health. Stool softeners such as mineral oil, flax seed oil, ducolax, miralax (polyethylene glycol)... All enhance colonic evacuation, but, most times, what we eat lead to complications...
