A member asked:

What are the risks involved with doing a liver transplant ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many many: This is one of the most complex operations, and the average patient receives many many blood transfusions. This is major surgery, and the patient generally has a breathing tube and goes to intensive care afterwards. Some have very serious complications. There is also the possibility that the new liver may not work as intended, or that it can be rejected.
