Variable: It can be hard to generalize. Survival is dependent on a lot of factors. Overall health, health of donor heart, how close the heart was matched. Typically the life expectancy for heart transplant is a bout 10 years. The longest was 24 years. Rejection both chronic and acute play a big role. Often the new heart will begin to develop coronary artery disease probably an off shoot chronic rejection.
