Yes: Only if so directed by your physician or dentist. Typically best to swish as directed and expectorate and refrain from eating or drinking for 30 minutes after using.

Yes: It is usually maalox, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) & lidocaine. Non of these components would harm you in you swallow small doses. I tell by patients to spit it out, unless they have ulcers in their throughout.

Don't do it again: Most mouthwash contain a high level of alcohol. It is ok if swallowed in small amounts, but you should rinse and expectorate.
