What dandruff shampoos are often prescribed by dermatologists?

The ones you know: Otc shampoos are usually as effective as prescriptions. Head & shoulders sells a zinc and a selenium shampoo. Dhs zn shampoo is twice as strong. Selsun blue is same as head & shoulders selenium. Nizoral can be found in a generic ketoconazole. Tar shampoos are found in every pharmacy. Salycylic acid shampoos are made by several cos. If there is inadequate response, see a dermatologist. If you like.

OTC or anti-yeast: You can use over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoos that has selenium sulfide 2.5% or zinc pyrithione 1 to 2%, coal tar, or salicylic acid. For more stubborn scruff, you can also use anti-yeast shampoo with ketoconazole or ciclopirox 2-3 times a week. Good luck!
