Boop: Yes BOOP can mimick certain types of lung cancer esp bronchoalveolar type.

Yes: Boop can mimic lung cancer....And lung cancer can quite easily be mistaken as a pneumonia. Radiologic imaging is rarely "diagnostic". It is important that any abnormality on chest film (x-ray/ct) be closely followed until clears/normalizes and/or further investigated for more definitive diagnosis. Somethings (but not all) may require formal biopsy.
