Is it possible to get used to painful braces?

Yes: Children "get used to" braces in just a few days. It takes adults a few weeks, after which the braces are hardly noticeable. The cleaner your braces and teeth, the healthier hyour gums, the less discomfort.

YES!: Not only is it possible, it is inevitable to get used to the discomfort of normal orthodontic treatment. The initial discomfort should fade into nothingness over a short period of time. The wonderful changes you will see and experience will more than make up for the initial discomfort. Enjoy the process of creating your new smile!

Soreness: Some discomfort is a certainly a part of moving teeth with braces. This discomfort is typically alleviated with over-the-counter analgesics, softer diet, and warm salt water rinses. The discomfort typically fades after a few days.
